HOW TO GET THERE:
By car
Via Flaminia as far as Rignano Flaminio, then follow the road signs to Calcata- Mazzano;
Via Cassia as far as Settevene; then turn off at the Mazzano Romano-Calcata junction.
Rome-Florence motorway Magliano Sabina exit, then Via Flaminia as far as Rignano Flamino, then follow the signs to Calcata

TERRITORY:
This is a tufaceous gorge formed by the erosion caused by the river Treja, characterised by the waterfall of Monte Gelato and the tufaceous spur on which the village of Calcata perches.

FLORA:
The southern slopes and tops of the tufaceous cliffs are scattered with holm-oaks, hackberries, mock privet, strawberry tree; on the valley floors or on north-facing slopes are hornbeams, Montpellier maple, hazel; riparian vegetation grows on the shores of the Treja torrent.

FAUNA:
Birdlife is characterised by moorhens, snipes, wood pigeons, kestrels, buzzards, etc.; among the Mammals are the rare wild cat, porcupine, garden dormouse, edible dormouse, hedgehog, badger, weasel, fox.

ART AND HISTORY:
Located within the park is the Museum of Art in Nature with a collection of works of art made using the natural materials offered by the woods in the different seasons.

Places of interest
in Calcata: the old village, now mainly populated by artists and foreigners, and the 13th-century collegiate church of SS. Cornelio and Cipriano.
